BJE (NSW Board of Jewish Education)

BJE inspires the Jewish identity of our community’s youth by engaging students in state and non-Jewish private school systems across NSW. BJE has been running Emet Israel programs since 2008 seeing them grow through the support of the community.

  • Program date: 9 December 2018 – 17 January 2019
  • About the program:
    • The BJE program is unique because it brings together Jewish students from all schools outside the Jewish Day Schools, creating a shared experience which caters for all levels ofJudaismm. The program gives students the opportunity to; learn about the history of Masada and then climb it, to not just visit the Kotel, but be a part of a powerful experience, as well as celebrating Shabbat in Jerusalem surrounded by a Jewish community, and joining together for Chanukah parties. Students can lie under the stars in a Bedouin tent and camel ride in the desert. They will have the chance to float in the dead sea and eat the best felafel, hummus and shwarma in the world. There are many more things to take in, from waterfalls, to hot springs, hikes and bike rides to name but a few.

Every child will find their place, because Israel has a way of bringing together a cross section of the community and making them feel at home and grow as individuals.

These students are, at an increasing rate, starting to represent and participate in our State's Jewish community. To ensure the social and communal integration of these students into the Jewish community, BJE, and specifically the EIP, is of fundamental and increasing importance.
