From the Chair

Youth 2 Israel continues to play a significant role in boosting the number of Year 10 students who participate in an educational Israel program. From 2015, the implementation of discretionary subsidies of up to $5,000 has made the trip affordable for families, and increased the number of students participating from other than the Jewish Day Schools. We are now starting to see the impact of returning students and the momentum they are building both in terms of awareness of the programs themselves, and their involvement in Jewish life.

Hundreds of local Jewish teens now travel to Israel each year, ensuring Jewish continuity and a love for a country that many consider our second home. Contributing to our Endowment Fund ensures we can continue to make this dream a concrete reality for many years to come.

The generosity of our initial donors has made it possible for Y2i to surpass 1400 students who have participated in a program. As well as the initial vouchers, donors have also helped provide extra means tested support, through a separate Y2i Assistance Fund, for students outside of the Jewish day schools, who need further financial assistance.

While our Phase 1 appeal target was reached, raising just over $10M, our goal is to ultimately raise the equivalent of an additional $37.5 million. Placed in an endowment fund, this will ensure it is possible to continue offering vouchers to hundreds of students, for many years to come. We are continuing to engage donors with a like-minded vision to ensure the next generation is committed and connected to Israel and our local community.

Many years of experience and research throughout the Diaspora have highlighted the importance of an extended trip at this pivotal point in a young adult’s life. Your support helps us build towards a stronger tomorrow where Jewish continuity thrives in our community.
