Peter Philippsohn OAM

Peter Philippsohn is the immediate past President of JCA. He is also a Life Governor of Mount Sinai College, a school he co-founded in 1981 together with a group of similar minded parents in Sydney’s south-eastern suburbs.

He has served on almost every JCA committee since 1999 and served as President from 2011 to 2014. He is also the current President of the Australian Jewish Historical Society Inc.

Peter’s involvement in Y2i stems from his observation that in today’s economic situation, many Jewish families are struggling to afford Jewish day school education.

“I believe we need to find additional avenues of engagement and involvement for young Jews living in Australia. Research worldwide, shows that a significant Israel experience as a teenager, is a determining factor in ensuring Jewish continuity. Y2i helps by bringing that experience into the reach of every Jewish child. In the years to come, these teenagers will take their place as leaders of our whole community.”
